1. General information

Registro California Exclusive is a private platform exclusively for owners of VW T4 California Exclusive vans. Access is restricted to members approved by the administrator and it is not available to the general public or search engines.

2. Data we collect and why

When you register and use the platform, the following data is stored for the purposes shown:

Data marked as optional is only collected if you choose to use the corresponding feature. Data for the insurance quote is processed on the basis of your consent and is not shared with anyone until you expressly click “request a quote”.

3. Legal basis for processing

Processing is based on the data subject's consent (Art. 6.1.a of the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR). By registering and ticking the acceptance box, you expressly consent to the processing described. You may withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account.

4. Data visibility

• Profile data is visible only to approved members who are signed in.
• Email and phone are only shown on the profile if the user chooses to include them.
• The map only shows the centre of the town, never the exact address or home GPS coordinates.
• The platform is not indexed by Google or other search engines (noindex on every page).

5. Data retention

• Account and member content: kept while the account is active. When the account is deleted, personal data, the profile and photos are permanently removed from both the database and the server. Content contributed to the shared sections (places, library, products) is kept without your name.
• Inactive accounts: if the administrator enables this feature, accounts that remain inactive for the configured period are deleted automatically, after two email warnings.
• Deletion log: when an account is deleted, a minimal record is kept (name, email, role, member number and reason for leaving) for internal control purposes.
• Insurance quote requests: kept as proof of consent and of the attribution of the transaction for the applicable limitation periods (generally five years under Art. 1964 of the Spanish Civil Code and four years for tax matters), including the policyholder data provided for pricing. This history is independent of account deletion.

6. Data processors

For the platform to operate, data is processed by the following data processors (technical providers acting on behalf of the controller, without using the data for their own purposes):

• Hostinger International Ltd. (web hosting): data is stored on their servers in the EU under a data processing agreement in line with the GDPR.
• OpenStreetMap / Nominatim: to place towns on the map, this public API is queried using only the town and province name, without transmitting any identifying data.

7. Sharing data with third parties (optional)

On a voluntary and optional basis, during registration you may consent to your data being shared with sector third parties —such as insurers, garages or parts suppliers— so they can offer products or services related to your van. Those third parties would act as independent controllers of the data they receive.

• This sharing only happens if you explicitly tick the corresponding box. It is separate from registration and not required to use the platform.
• You may withdraw this consent at any time without affecting your account by writing to the contact address.
• Before any specific sharing, we may inform you of the category of recipients and the specific purpose.
• If you do not tick this box, your data will not be shared with third parties for commercial purposes.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR and the Spanish Data Protection Act you have the right to:

• Access: know what data we process about you.
• Rectification: correct inaccurate data from your profile.
• Erasure (right to be forgotten): delete your account and all your data from My van → Delete my account.
• Portability: request a copy of your data in a readable format.
• Restriction and objection: contact us if you wish to restrict any processing.

To exercise these rights, write to [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).

9. Security

• Passwords are stored encrypted with bcrypt; nobody (not even the administrator) can see them.
• Sessions use HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax cookies and expire after inactivity.
• All pages are protected with CSRF tokens.
• Photos are served through a private server that requires an active session; the image folder is not directly accessible.

10. Cookies

Strictly necessary session cookies are used for sign-in; these do not require consent.

In addition, this site uses Google analytics cookies (Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager) to understand in aggregate how the platform is used. These cookies are only activated if you accept them in the cookie banner; if you reject them, no data is loaded or recorded. You can change your choice by clearing your browser cookies. Google acts as a data processor and data may be processed on servers outside the EU under the safeguards provided by the GDPR.

11. Rules of use

• Access is exclusive to owners or people interested in the VW T4 California Exclusive.
• Every new account requires administrator approval before access is granted.
• Unauthorized commercial use of other members' data is prohibited.
• The administrator may suspend or delete accounts that breach these rules.
• Content (photos, descriptions) is the responsibility of the user who publishes it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated to members by email. Last updated: September 2026.

For any matter arising from these terms, Spanish law shall apply and the parties submit to the courts of Valencia, unless consumer law provides otherwise.
